Hi, my name is Shelley…

Hi, my name is Shelley, and I must confess that this feels a little bit like I’m introducing myself at an Al-Anon meeting. I half expect you all to reply back “Hi Shelley”, to which I would feel compelled to tell you all why I am here today- I’m a single parent, I’m recovering from divorce, I’m working on trying to put my life back together, and so forth.

And I guess that is a fitting enough introduction for a blog, as well as for an Al-Anon meeting, so we’ll go with it. My life has been through a series of changes over the last few years, and it has been just about all the adjectives in the English language: amazing, exhausting, terrifying, hilarious, inspiring, utterly hopeless, confusing, damaging, healing, overwhelming. Just to name a few.

I write daily about the transformation happening in my life, and it has been a wonderful source of catharsis and accountability. And what is a blog if not an online journal? So this is my place to record my journey, to share the stories of my life- the good, the bad, the ugly, and the wet-your-pants funny. I hope to find some inspiration here, also. So many others have walked the road I’m walking now, and it is a golden moment when I stumble across those people and get to hear their stories and share mine.

So, stay tuned. It’s only Tuesday. Soon and very soon, the week will throw something at me that I’ll need to talk about. Until then, y’all be good and if you live where I live, take an umbrella because it is going to rain AGAIN. And maybe, while you’re at it, throw up a little prayer for Jesus to send the sun. Please and thank you.
